Skills/Talents: As a young girl and into her teens, Caleigh was skilled most at playing piano. At the age of four Caleigh found her first piano, and at first she just liked to press the keys to hear the sound, but the more she sat and played around with the set of black and white keys, the more that melodies began to take shape in her playing. By the age of six she was a perfect piano player and had been taught by a family friend how to read music so that she could write down the music she made. It was her favorite thing in the whole world, and she would have spent every minute of her life at the piano if she hadn't had to go to school. And besides making her do her homework, and to go outside and play every now and then, her parents let her play. They were glad to see their child so interested in something, and they loved to listen to the music that their child came up with.
Even in the four years after her parents death that she tried to remain the same girl, she continued to play piano. But when the day came that she decided to change everything in her life, she gave up the piano and traded it for a bow and arrow.
And it didn't take long for her to become a remarkable archer. With the motivation of protecting the ones she loved, it would have been hard for her to be bad at it. After about two months of practice, she became perfect. And from that day forward, she's never missed a target. But the bow wasn't the only weapon she trained with. She took up knifes as well, becoming a precision fighter with them as well. And then, more recently, when the vampires were outed, she took up stakes, deadly with them in long or short range.
Personality: Caleigh and her sister were both very similar when they were younger. Caring, witty, and spontaneous. They were always the ones to offer a smile and a hug to their loved ones. Caleigh loved a challenge, and took pride whenever she went above and beyond what she was challenged to do. Caleigh was the girl that would drop the most important opportunity in the world if someone she loved needed her to be there. She was a girl that everyone loved to have around, and that loved to be around anyone.
After her parents death, she did her best to remain that same girl. And she did well for the first four years. She contained all of her tears to the funeral and to her bedroom before she went to sleep each night, but otherwise, she appeared to still be the same, loving girl. She went out with her friends, stayed close to her boyfriend, and tried her best not to think about her parents death.
But after four years of bottling the feelings, Caleigh finally snapped. She did her best to contain it, but it had all finally boiled over. She pushed away as many of her friends as she could, broke up with her boyfriend, and started training. She was trying to limit the number of people that she had to protect; and she did a pretty good job of pushing most of them away. Especially once she decided one evening to crash her car on purpose just to see if she could survive. After surviving the intentional car crash, the town deemed her crazy, realizing that she'd finally snapped after her parents death.
Nowadays, Caleigh is closed-off, distrustful, and sometimes even rude. She doesn't want to make new friends, and sometimes she wishes she didn't have the ones she has; just because she's so afraid she won't be able to protect them. But, with those few friends that stayed (and of course her sister), Caleigh is still a friendly, warm person. Those friends that stayed are definitely the only people who see the younger Hamilton sister smile.
Romantic History: Caleigh was never the girl to shy away from the opposite sex. But, no friendly person would. She always had a love for people, and had a few little boyfriends as a young girl - the kind that held hands in the halls of the elementary school. But even as she grew older, nothing really serious came of any of it. And why should it? She was young.
But at the age of fourteen, only a few months before her parents death, Caleigh finally ran into the boy that would change all of that. Troy Lancaster. It might seem cliche to say, but with those two, it was love at first sight. As soon as their eyes met, they were stuck like glue to each other. He was the new guy in town, and she was the girl that everyone knew. They seemed an odd couple, but they were never happier than when they were together.
They did everything together. They met up between classes in high school, sat with each other at lunch, and always met up after school. They spent every second that they could spare with each other. And it didn't matter if they were doing homework or going to one of the many town events, they were happy just because they were together. Even when one of them (or both of them) had a bad day, they immediately went to each other and normally spent the night in the Hamilton living room, Caleigh playing piano and Troy sitting in the couch, eyes closed as he listened to the melodies.
They dated for four years. And never once did they fight, never once did they stop loving each other. But, four years after her parents death, Caleigh finally couldn't handle the life she was living anymore. If her parents could be taken so quickly, what was keeping all the other people she loved safe? Deeming herself the protector of the people she loved - and also the magnet for the trouble that seemed to have befallen her with her parents death - she began to change. She stopped playing piano, she started training, and slowly she realized she couldn't protect everyone. And so she began to push people away, starting with her friends and then moving on to her love life.
Caleigh knew that Troy had figured out something was different with her; but the last thing he expected was for her to show up at his door during the summer with all of his stuff in a box. She pushed the box into his hands, told him it was over between them, and walked away. Every day since, it has haunted her. She didn't do it because she didn't love him. She did it to try and keep him from being in danger. Because... She couldn't protect everyone. She just couldn't.
Even to this day, seeing Troy reminds Caleigh of the biggest mistake she'd ever made. And if given the choice, she would go back and not leave him. Because she never got over him, and still loves him with her whole heart.
